Our trip is now complete, but we couldn’t have done it without the help and contributions of many people.

A huge thank-you to Sarah Witt, who spent an enormous amount of time planning the routes for our run. Behind the scenes she spent countless hours, poring over maps, checking street-view for potential parking spots, looking at Strava to ensure footpaths were accessible and were suitable for running etc etc. She also wrote programs to produce gpx files for all of our individual running legs, prepared maps for all the segments and created the schedule everyday so that everyone could run the distance that they wanted. You did a brilliant job Sarah, thank-you!

Dankeschön und merci beaucoup to Fiona Bolton for your language skills which helped us get out of a few tricky situations. Fiona also did a lot of the work in researching and booking the accommodation.

A big thank-you to all our drivers:
White Bus – Steve Goodwin, Andy Parkinson & Adrian Field
Black Bus – Sarah Witt & Fiona Bolton
You got us to all our changeover points without incident, often having to park in tricky locations and sometimes having to drive straight after finishing running.
Thanks also for driving on the long route home.

Thank-you to our young runners Stan Parkinson & Bess Carter.
It was a real bonus to have you on the trip. You were always smiling and happy and there was hardly ever a word of complaint, despite the early starts and long hours spent sitting on the bus. We hope that you enjoyed the trip as much as we enjoyed having you along.

David Howells was responsible for communications, liaising with the Mayor’s office and the press. Thank-you for that David and also for your seemingly endless supply of delicious cakes.

Thank-you to all our sponsors. Special thanks go to Robert Carter and to Millgate, who provided our wonderful T shirts. Thank-you also to Belgarum, Elliots, Paris Smith, Willbox & Input Joinery who all contributed to the money we’ve raised for Winchester Hospice.

Thank-you also to the many friends and family who have sponsored us on our Just Giving page. It gave us a real boost to watch the total grow during our run. To date we have raised over £3600 for Winchester Hospice from the Just Giving page and our company sponsors. There is still time to contribute, just follow the link!

Thank-you also to Councillor Eleanor Bell, Mayor of Winchester who saw us off on the first day of our epic adventure and Oberbürgermeisterin Dietland Grabe-Bolz, Mayor of Giessen, who greeted us on our arrival and hosted a reception at the Giessen Town Hall. To Frank Pearson, former mayor of Winchester, and Anne Pearson, thank-you for supporting us at the start of our run and for coming out to Giessen to see the finish.

It was wonderful to have so much support from other Winchester runners on the first leg of our journey. Thank-you to those of you who ran with us and to those of you who cheered us off so early in the morning.

We received an amazing welcome from many Giessen runners. They ran with us on the last legs of our route into Giessen and they organised and hosted a lovely evening reception for us. Particular thanks to Florian Mayer, Oliver Lauff and Christine Klein for all their help and support.
Thanks also go to the Schwanenteich parkrun team who made us feel so very welcome at their parkrun.
